Projects
Cedar Rapids has an extensive parks system, but tax dollars alone can’t sustain it or fuel its growth. The Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation exists to close that gap, raising supplemental funding and putting it to work across the community.
Impact Areas
We believe in funding projects that enable Cedar Rapids residents of all ages to get moving, connect with their community, and simply have fun. Investments include:
The Rollin’ Recmobile
Playground equipment at Cleveland, Daniels, Cedar Lake, and Old MacDonald’s Farm.
Free Swim Lesson Program
Pickleball court improvements at Jones Park
Water and electricity for the Hughes Park ice rink
We believe parks require thoughtful investment and consistent care. Our investments reflect this belief and ensure parks are comfortable, safe, and well maintained:
Shade shelters at the 12th Street Dog Park and Lincolnway Park
Furnishings for the Roundhouse as part of the Lightline Loop project
New concrete steps
Veterans Rock installation
We believe thriving communities start with adequate access to nature. Our investments support greenspaces and living ecosystems that make Cedar Rapids parks beautiful year-round:
ReLeaf trees at Jones Park
Walkable gardens at Noelridge Park
Native Oasis Pollinator Gardens
We believe parks are places to discover, explore, and learn. Our investments bring educational experiences to life, connecting Cedar Rapids residents with nature, history, and their community:
Interpretive exhibits and programming at Old MacDonald’s Farm in Bever Park
Community Mini Grants
We believe great ideas can come from anyone in our community. Our Community Mini Grant program helps turn local ideas into meaningful projects that improve parks and public spaces. Examples include:
$x,xxx to Friends of Noelridge Park for x
$x,xxx to Bever Park Neighborhood Association for Goats on the Go project
